MY JOURNEY OF DISCOVERY:
I discovered energy healing therapy in 2000, after a diagnosis of colon cancer and a chance meeting with a Reiki Master. I wasn't familiar with energy healing, Reiki, or Healing Touch, and wanted to know how to use "Universal Energy" to help my own body's energy heal and to support my body through six rounds of chemotherapy.
This Reiki Master gave me the first two "attunements" to Reiki Energy, and I taught myself Reiki techniques and provided energy therapy for myself, friends, and family. In 2007, I became a Master Reiki Practitioner. I volunteered as a Reiki practitioner in the Regions Hospital Complementary Care Therapy Program, 2008-2009. It was there I saw Healing Touch in and began my two and one/half year path to complete five levels of structured training, including an Apprentice year working with a Qualified Mentor/RN.
I became a Healing Touch Certified Practitioner in 2012, and in 2014, I became Nationally Accredited as a Certified Practitioner when the Healing Touch Program became the first Energy Program to be nationally accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA), Washington DC.
MINNESOTA ONCOLOGY HEMATOLOGY, P.A.:
During my Healing Touch Apprentice year, I established Healing Touch as a resource for MN Oncology at St. Paul Cancer Center in October 2010. I completed an 11-week pilot project, demonstrating a 58% reduction in patients' self-reported levels of pain, and nausea after providing short energy sessions to the patients as they received chemotherapy treatments. I returned to the St. Paul Cancer Center in February 2012 as the Complementary Care Program Coordinator. Later in 2012, I audited a Cancer Massage class at Northwestern Health Sciences was trained to do oncology hand massage.
I coordinated Complementary Care services for four Minnesota Oncology clinics from October 2011 to December 2016. I provided my services at the Edina Cancer Center in the Southdale Medical and recruited Massage Therapy students who wanted a clinical setting in which to complete their Program internships. Student Interns came from the Globe University Massage Program in Woodbury, and from Saint Paul College, both in Minnesota. In the five years I contracted with Minnesota Oncology, 21 Student Interns completed their practicums with me.
I have Bachelor of Arts Degree in Theater Arts and a Master of Science in Instructional Design & Training. Both degree programs taught me skills to listen closely to my clients, to observe them with compassion, to evaluate where they might be in their life's journey, and to discovering their role in achieving lives that are balanced, grounded and centered.
I became a Level 2 "Healing Touch for Animals" Practitioner in 2013.
I established the first Minnesota Chapter of the Healing Touch Professional Association in 2013.
I completed Paralegal training in October 2003.
I became a Mediator after training at Hamline University's School of Law in 1995.
